ONL's Leadership Academy: helping nurses reach their true potential.

One of ONL's strategic priorities is to develop nurses aspiring to lead: in organizations, governance, innovation, and policy. Structured to increase leadership effectiveness, the Leadership Academy is a four and a half-day executive style program that uses a cohort approach to didactic instruction by expert faculty. Participants have access to professional coaches and will complete a capstone project designed to benefit the sponsoring organization.

Since 2011, ONL's Leadership Academy has graduated more than 250 nurse leaders from 30 organizations. Recent graduates share the value they found in the program:

Participants: 25 per program; teams of four or more from an institution suggested

The dates for the Fall 2017 program are:
Module 1 - Friday, September 22, 2017
Module 2 - Friday, October 6, 2017
Module 3 - Friday, October 20, 2017
Module 4 - Thursday, November 9 & Friday, November 10, 2017

Cost of Program:
$1,749 for ONL members
$1,999 for non-ONL members
(includes a one year ONL membership)

The program includes four distinct Modules, during a two month period.

MODULE 1 - The Self

The participants will identify intrinsic characteristics, including personality type and traits, and begin to develop competencies to successfully apply these aspects to balance the dimensions of management and leadership.

MODULE 2 - The Leader: Organization

The participants will be able to assess and identify organizational priorities and will develop a plan to support implementation of a leadership project within their own organization.

MODULE 3 - The Leader: People

The participants will focus on leadership theory to help understand/assess their own leadership approach and its appropriate use based on the situation. With the help of a coach, the participants will develop a plan for goal setting and goal achievement.

MODULE 4 - Return Leadership Days (Nov. 9-10, 2017)

The participants will present the planning, status of implementation, and analysis and evaluation of their leadership project. Professional networking is a valued component of the Leadership Academy and in response to participant feedback we are including, for the first time this Fall, a networking and celebratory dinner on Nov. 9th. For Leadership Academy participants, the cost of the dinner and a hotel room on November 9th is included in the program pricing.
