The Clinical Manager of Intensive Care Unit (ICU-1) is an amazing opportunity for a dynamic RN leader interested in joining a transformational nursing leadership team.  This position requires a strategic thinker, strong communicator and problem solver who will provide clinical oversight of this ICU.  

Responsible for managing a 12 bed Unit at the Main Campus of Lowell General Hospital.  Will work closely with the Director of Inpatient Services and take responsibility for unit systems functions, RN staff performance, and patient care outcomes. 

Will lead through change both planned and unplanned, build consensus when appropriate, motivate and encourage others. Responsible to maintain an inclusive workplace; maximizes contributions of all employees, and develop strengths in all team members.

Responsible for hiring, counseling and coaching staff, providing disciplinary actions, positively interacting with medical staff and support services during times of stress and constant change.

Unit Description: 

ICU-1 is a state of the art Intensive Care Unit that provides care for patients that are critically ill including those with cardiac, renal, pulmonary, neuro, medical and surgical diagnoses.

This team of specially educated, experienced physicians and nurses from Lowell General Hospital also partner with Tufts Medical Center Intensivists to provide the highest level of care to our patients.  Populations served are young adult through geriatric patients from Lowell and surrounding communities.
 
The ideal manager candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • BSN required, MSN preferred.  
  • BLS and ACLS required and critical care certification preferred
  • Prior proven experience and expertise in critical care patient population (minimum 5 years clinical work) and/or prior proven experience and expertise in management, either in first line or in shift supervisory work.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills for high level communication within the hospital and at interdisciplinary and administrative meetings.
  • Experience developing written proposals, preparing budgets, writing evaluations and developing standards and Performance Improvement (PI) reports.
