This Nursing Director will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with senior nursing leadership, patient care, administrators, and key physician leaders to define and implement shared goals and evaluate outcomes for Pediatric Medicine programs and services.
  • Partnering with key nursing, patient care, physician and administrative leaders in support of strategic / capital planning requirements and clinical program development.
  • Holding yourself and others accountable for the achievement of key goals and desired outcomes including: patient, staff, and provider satisfaction; quality and safety outcomes, financial performance and achievement of growth targets, regulatory readiness, and the health of the work environment.
  • Collaborating with ACNO and other senior leaders to lead a quality improvement programs to enhance nurse/patient care sensitive outcomes, patient and family satisfaction, quality and safety, and efficient patient flow and patient acuity / complexity.

The Department of Ambulatory Medicine Nursing Director is responsible for clinical care delivery and standards of practice in the Department of Pediatrics ambulatory programs throughout the Boston Children’s Hospital enterprise including: Ambulatory Medicine (Primary Care at Longwood & Martha Eliot Health Center), and a wide range of Pediatric /Medicine specialties including: Endocrine, GI, Allergy-Immunology, Dermatology, Adolescent/GYN, Department of Youth Services (DYS), Pulmonary.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive management/leadership experience as a senior nurse leader in a complex research-intensive, academic acute care setting. Strong medical sub-specialty and nursing leadership experience in a similarly complex adult academic health care delivery setting will be weighted favorably as will Nursing leadership experience in a comparable academic pediatric health care delivery setting.
  • A doctoral degree in nursing (PhD, DNSc, or DNP) or relevant health system related doctorate (DrPH) is preferred.
  • Preparation as an APRN (FNP/PNP), and prior accountability for APRN professional practice, is beneficial.
  • Clinical specialty certification (CPN, CPHQ, and others) and nursing leadership certification (NE-BC/NEA-BC) is strongly preferred.
