ONL Committees

Our committees, listed below, are integral to ONL and offer an opportunity for our members to help lead our work, shape ONL policies and positions, network with colleagues, and advance ONL’s mission.

Evidence-Based Practice Committee

The Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Committee, led by ONL Director of Government Affairs and Programs Ashley Waddell, is focused on improving practice and outcomes through decisions supported by research. The EBP Committee will serve as a forum for members to share best practices and ideas and will influence ONL’s EBP-related programming.

Government Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee, led by ONL Director of Government Affairs and Programs Ashley Waddell, assists ONL in shaping its public policy agenda and advancing its legislative advocacy efforts. State representatives work collaboratively with the ONL team to align the organization's policy priorities. The committee’s most recent areas of focus have been public health priorities, workforce development, healthy work environments, access to high-value healthcare, and positioning nurses and clinicians to lead and influence.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee, led by Lynn D'Angelo of UMass Memorial Medical Center and by Monica Tucker-Schwartz of Tufts Medicine, helps strengthen ONL by supporting member recruitment and retention, serving as a sounding board for the ONL team, and providing insight and guidance on the needs of ONL’s members and the sector. Participants serve as ambassadors for ONL, helping to encourage peers and colleagues to join the organization.

Programs Committee

The Programs Committee, led by Kathy Bower of The Center for Case Management, Inc., supports ONL’s efforts to develop nurse leaders through education and training opportunities. The central, year-round work of the committee is in identifying speakers and topics relevant to nursing practice for ONL's educational programs for nurse leaders. Committee members also have a highly visible and instrumental role helping to coordinate ONL's in-person meetings and events.
