Be the Boss No One Wants to Leave: Nurse Retention in Turbulent Times

For nurse leaders at every stage of their leadership journey

Be the Boss No One Wants to Leave: Nurse Retention in Turbulent Times

Healthcare organizations are facing unprecedented staffing shortages and high rates of turnover. In these times more than ever before, the cost of turnover is felt not only by the organization, with replacement costs for a single nurse easily exceeding $50,000, but also by the remaining team members and patients.

While frontline nurse leaders are the linchpins in staff retention, new nurse leaders are promoted into their leadership roles with little or no training on best practices for leading staff. This program is designed to equip new leaders with leadership best practices and help them succeed in the mission-critical job of retaining staff. In this interactive workshop, we will discuss the latest evidence on nurse retention, and participants will gain actionable strategies for becoming the leader no one wants to leave.

This program has reached capacity. The program will be held again on April 26th due to high demand.

Best Practice Solutions to Disruptive Behaviors in Healthcare

In hospitals across the globe, we are seeing an alarming increase in workplace stress and cruelty. There is infighting among staff, tension between shifts, and new employees and float staff are being squashed. Worse yet, healthcare professionals are airing their frustrations in front of patients, which increases patient anxiety and interferes with their recovery. As healthcare leaders, we have an opportunity to change that.

In this training you will gain an understanding of the common ways disruptive behaviors show up in healthcare today and discover healthy workforce best practice solutions to these challenges. You'll leave equipped with the tools you need to successfully address disruptive behaviors and cultivate a culture of caring in your organization.

Caring Science Executive Leadership Intensive
Every other Wednesday, March 1st - May 17th at 12:00 PM via Zoom
For Chief Nursing Officers and senior nurse leaders

Caring Science Executive Leadership Intensive

Executive nurse leaders are asked to translate the mission, vision, and values of their organization and set the tone and culture for the entire nursing team, all while managing tremendous and ever-increasing complexity. Meeting this moment requires intentionality along with a human-centered approach and focus. It is more important than ever for senior nurse executives to invest in their own leadership practice.

The Caring Science Executive Leadership Intensive provides structure and space for senior nurse leaders to refocus and reflect on their values and sense of purpose so that they can show up fully and with authenticity in their leadership. Designed by Dr. Jean Watson and the Watson Caring Science Institute (WSCI), this program will equip leaders with tools and practical strategies for supporting a culture of caring and relationship-centered healthcare.

Utilizing Watson’s Caring Science as a practice model has been shown to reduce staff turnover significantly as well as increase patients' perception of caring.
